Empowering women and girls to realize a sustainable future by fostering a community of inclusiveness and awareness

YWCA is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families, and strengthen communities. We are part of the oldest and largest women's organizations in the nation, serving over 2 million women, girls, and their families.

Today, YWCA USA is driving real change for real girls. We combine programming and advocacy to generate institutional change for women, girls, and communities of color in three key areas: racial justice and civil rights, empowerment and economic advancement, and health and safety.

YWCA Vermont – for almost 100 years! – has served tens of thousands of girls and women through our signature youth program, Camp Hochelaga, our signature community programs, and our services.

Each summer, we welcome 600-800 girls and young women into the safe haven of Camp Hochelaga on the shores of Lake Champlain. Girls of all ages, identities, backgrounds, and life experiences come together to take on challenges, develop leadership skills, collaborate across differences, and empower themselves and one another. Some of our community programs include active participation in national YWCA campaigns for social justice: Stand Against Racism and Week Without Violence.

As we prepare to celebrate our first 100 years of service and build sustainability and growth for another 100 years, we ask you to join us!

We encourage you to become a mission supporter of YWCA Vermont

If you are passionate about our mission and our programs and are committed to leading YWCA Vermont towards an inclusive, sustainable, and community-engaged future, join us! Our Board of Directors, staff team, and community of mission supporters include many Hochelaga alumnae, empowered girls and women, community volunteers and leaders, and people just like you. Together, we are committed to YWCA Vermont’s mission and to sustaining the work of our programs. We have important work to do! Your voice has impact and your presence is needed to continue to move us forward in our mission work. As a mission supporter, you will create a dynamic and impactful YWCA and ensure our presence in Vermont for another 100 years.

What am I hearing about this new directorship governance model?

We have moved from a membership governance organization to a directorship organization, and, in doing so, have joined many of our sister YWCA associations across the country. This update to our governance structure supports inclusivity, efficiency, sustainability and growth. More than 50% of YWCAs now utilize this governance model. YWCA USA has supported us in this change, and we are excited to continue our strong connection with them. If you have any questions about this, please contact our YWCA USA liaison Sarah Thompson (email link).
