Empowering women and girls to realize a sustainable future by fostering a community of inclusiveness and awareness
YWCA is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families, and strengthen communities. We are part of the oldest and largest women's organizations in the nation, serving over 2 million women, girls, and their families.
Today, YWCA USA is driving real change for real girls. We combine programming and advocacy to generate institutional change for women, girls, and communities of color in three key areas: racial justice and civil rights, empowerment and economic advancement, and health and safety.
YWCA Vermont – for almost 100 years! – has served tens of thousands of girls and women through our signature youth program, Camp Hochelaga, our signature community programs, and our services.
Each summer, we welcome 600-800 girls and young women into the safe haven of Camp Hochelaga on the shores of Lake Champlain. Girls of all ages, identities, backgrounds, and life experiences come together to take on challenges, develop leadership skills, collaborate across differences, and empower themselves and one another. Some of our community programs include active participation in national YWCA campaigns for social justice: Stand Against Racism and Week Without Violence.
As we prepare to celebrate our first 100 years of service and build sustainability and growth for another 100 years, we ask you to join us!
We encourage you to become a mission supporter of YWCA Vermont

What am I hearing about this new directorship governance model?
We have moved from a membership governance organization to a directorship organization, and, in doing so, have joined many of our sister YWCA associations across the country. This update to our governance structure supports inclusivity, efficiency, sustainability and growth. More than 50% of YWCAs now utilize this governance model. YWCA USA has supported us in this change, and we are excited to continue our strong connection with them. If you have any questions about this, please contact our YWCA USA liaison Sarah Thompson (email link).

Circle of Girls Fund
Our Circle of Girls scholarship fund provides financial support to families for Camp Hochelaga’s residential, day, and teen leadership programs. In 2017, the Circle of Girls scholarship fund provided over $30,000 in financial assistance to more than 50 campers.
Your generous contribution in any amount will help us extend camp experiences to girls whose families would not otherwise be able to afford them. Your gift of $600 brings one camper to camp through the Circle of Girls scholarship fund.
"I love coming back to 'Laga because camp friends are friends like no other. By the end of the first day, you basically are best friends and by the end of the first week, you are pretty much sisters. I love all my 'Laga sisters!"

"Hochelaga is special because each time I come I meet new people, learn new things, and by the time I'm home, I'm campsick. Everything is exciting because Hochelaga has helped me become open to more new things. My cabin is my bedroom, and Hochelaga is my family! Everyone is kind and caring and the songs warm my heart"
"It's a really safe place to be. Everyone here is nice! Lots of bugs though..."
"I love Hochelaga. It's the place where I know I can be myself"
