Camp Hochelaga is an American Camp Association accredited camp that provides overnight, day camp, and leadership development. Our programs offer opportunities to explore a wide range of activities intended to build character, self-esteem, self-confidence, empowerment, and leadership.
Camp Hochelaga prioritizes social, emotional, and physical safety, to create a magical place where camp traditions, fun, outdoor adventures, engaged staff mentors, and friendships combine to create unforgettable experiences. At ‘Laga, our core values of collaboration, compassion, and empowerment live at the center of all that we do.
An Inclusive Girls+* Summer Camp
At Camp Hochelaga, we strive to offer programming that can serve all campers who feel they can find belonging within our community.
To learn more about our philosophies, camper resources, and our community guidelines, please see our Who We Serve page.
*What’s the “+” in “girls+”
This notion is adopted from Rachel Ricketts’ 2021 book ‘Do Better’ -
“Refers to girls (cisgender or transgender), as well as any young person who may hold less assigned gender power. The “+” is derived from Bear Hebert to include all those who self-identify as oppressed by misogyny similarly to those who identify as girls, including femme, femme-passing, gender non-conforming, nonbinary, agender, genderqueer, intersex folx, and all those who live outside of identities that terms or language can describe now or in the future.”
While a historically “all girls” summer camp, we have updated our language to acknowledge populations that have always been present within our community.
If you have questions about if Hochelaga may the right fit for your camper this upcoming summer, please always feel free to reach out.
